Papi is a musical video I directed, shot and edited for my friends band Mandale Mecha debut single. It was thought of and shot in less than 24 hours and a budget of 2 cases of beer.
When the band called me for a meeting asking for ideas on how to shoot a video with the least possible budget, I called a really good friend of mine and partner in crime from various other projects - Marko Martinz from Vinil Filmes - for camera and cinematography work.
Next, I got the song file and prepared it for the different frame rates we were shooting on and exported timecoded videos with the songs in various speeds to my phone. On the next day we headed for the Rio Vermelho woods, found our location and started playing the songs and shooting. We used a Sony A7SII, shot in LogS2 and 3 different lenses (14, 35 and 85mm).

Shooting took about 6 hours and then it was just editing.
After the first cut, I realized something was missing, so I started doing the crazy effects you can see on the transitions using Photoshop and After Effects in dynamic link within Premiere Pro. The band was finishing mastering the songs, so it gave me a bit of time to play around and find the best effects, as well as do color correction using the Lumetri tabs. The back and forth with the band for ideas and approvals was made using Frame.io which I am an user and enthusiast since the launch of the website.

These are exported frames the band ended up using for social media.

Some other exported frames the band considered for social media.

These pics were shot with my beloved Fuji X100S the day I went over to the band's headquarter (singer's Michu's house) to talk about the idea. We listened to the album over and over to decide which song we would do the video on, as well as came up with the concept for the video. The next morning we went to the location and shot it.
